We’re about 48 hours away from the opening day for the Indians and the rest of baseball, so I figured this would be as good a time as any to jump right in and start posting.  I don’t know how I feel about this team this year.  You take a team that won 93 games a year ago, strip them of their best pitcher and most of the bullpen, and then add on lesser players?  Especially since they’ve been telling us for 3 years that “when the time comes we will open up the checkbook.”  How many wins do we have to get before we’re officially in contention?  I think we’re still a year away thanks to our off-season frugality, and so I’m betting we don’t make the playoffs again.  Keep in mind we we’re virtually injury-free last year, and we rode so many youngsters who had tremendous seasons.

I think this will be yet another ‘wait till next year’ year, which is unfortunate given the amount of talent that they have brought up.  The only saving grace could come in the form of a July trade–but again, Dolan is going to have to dip in to the ‘time is right’ fund and pony-up.  Let the marathon begin…
